While many parts of the country head inside during the cold winter months, residents of Weeki Wachee, Florida are blessed with warm weather year round. If you’re lucky enough to be spending the holiday season on the Adventure Coast, here are a few can’t miss activities:
Winter Waterland 2016
December 9-10 & 16-17
The Friends of Weeki Wachee Springs State Park are proud to present, Winter Waterland 2016. This popular annual Christmas event will be held December 9-10 & 16-17, 2016. The event is from 6 PM-10 PM each night. Admission is only $6 for adults, and $4 for kids ages 6-12. Kids five and under are FREE. Park passes are not accepted for this special event. Advanced tickets will go on-sale beginning December 3. They can only be purchased at the gate during business hours.
The event will include holiday themed shows from the World-Famous Weeki Wachee Mermaids. In addition, the event will include holiday lights, other holiday themed performances, a live nativity scene, petting zoo (extra fee), and of course, a photo opportunity with Santa Claus and his mermaid-elf helpers. A great inexpensive way to enjoy the holiday season with the family.
Breakfast with Santa
This is the perfect event for residents of GlenLakes to bring the family from out of town to. The grandchildren can meet the man himself, Santa Claus! This holiday filled breakfast will include an omelet station, French toast, whipped buttermilk biscuits, and many more delicious items.
Candy Cane Acres
Every Fri/Sat of December
Gather your family and friends to enjoy the holiday light display and Christmas Village at Hernando County Fairgrounds. Visit Mrs. Claus’ kitchen and decorate your own cookie, see the Parade of Trees, stop by Santa’s workshop and make a craft to take home, and cuddle up for an old Florida-style sleigh ride.
New Year’s Eve Celebration
Residents of GlenLakes are invited to spend a special New Year Eve with your neighbors! An 8:00 p.m. reception will feature cocktails and delicious hors d’oeuvres followed by a Ballroom Dinner with many fine dining options including espresso seared sea scallop skewer, seared New Zealand lamb lollipop, Maine Lobster, roasted tenderloin and chocolate covered strawberries, ice cream and other petit deserts.
