Tennis Tip: Vary your Volley Tactics
Control of the net is a must to win in doubles and that means volleying with skill and “intelligence”. Not all net play is super aggressive. If the ball is a “sitter” or “floater” then jump on it…knock it away for a winner. However if the ball is soft and below the net…do nothing…be polite…hit a nice little touch angle or drop shot.

Being a Member has its perks, including no extra fees for court-time. Meet your favorite couple for a game of doubles on the GlenLakes courts! For more information on home ownership click here.
Are you looking at Florida communities and wondering which one to choose? Areas on the Gulf Coast should be at the top of your list! Weeki Wachee is on the state’s west coast and offers cultural diversity along with a variety of activities to fit your Florida retirement lifestyle. The GlenLakes community in Weeki Wachee, has become popular with baby boomers, and it’s easy to see why. Below are five reasons why you should take advantage of what the Florida Gulf Coast has to offer.
Range of Cultural Offerings
While the perception of Florida is that there is not much more to it than the beach, Weeki Wachee, and surrounding areas, are considered one of the exceptions. The Tampa Bay area has a number of cultural offerings including an opera, a variety of art galleries along with historic landmarks and an aquarium. John Ringling of the Ringling Bros lived nearby, in Sarasota, and provided the city with its own permanent circus. There is also the Ringling Museum of Art run by the Ringling Estate. Along with all of that, GlenLakes is a short drive from numerous restaurants nearby and places for shopping.
Florida’s winter temperatures rarely ever fall below 60 degrees and you are likely to get at least 250 sunny days per year. It is true that the state is known for being warm and humid in the summer, but Florida’s summer temperatures are not much higher than those in most places further north. In addition, it is important to note that summertime humidity in coastal areas like Weeki Wachee is considerably lower than it is in inland central Florida communities like Gainesville.
Where To Retire Magazine consistently names GlenLakes “One of the Best Places to Retire.” In addition, Ideal-Living magazine calls us a “Top 50 Community.” Florida has no state income tax along with relatively low property taxes and energy costs. Paired with GlenLakes low cost membership and golf play and the size of the homesites, results in GlenLakes being an affordable place to live.
There are Multiple World-Renowned Beaches Nearby
Sarasota’s Siesta Key is considered to have some of the best beaches in the country. In fact, the Travel Channel has recognized Crescent Beach on Siesta as the best sand beach in the country.
